I’ve spent over 20 years coaching founders and leaders of small and mid-size law firms, and I’ve observed four common truths:
- You are inspired. You want to take the best pieces of your knowledge, skills and experience to create and grow “better” law firms.
- Your platform has the potential to excel. With direct influence over your firm’s direction, strategy and culture, including hiring, investment and innovation decisions, you are nimble and well-positioned to flourish.
- Talent is tricky. Attracting people in a competitive and noisy market, then investing the time, energy and resources to train, develop and manage them … and then having them leave … is frustrating.
- The Admin Shuffle is exhausting! Constantly dealing with management, operational and financial issues is stressful, and erodes your ability to focus on firm-building priorities and your own client work.
And firm profitability takes a hit when the partners are forced to spend big chunks of time juggling administrative and management challenges.
While it is easy to spot these commonalities, the challenges generally can’t be resolved in a few one-on-one coaching sessions.
A further complication is that accessible support and resources are extremely limited, and the few tools that do exist are generally made for larger firms with different issues, priorities and budgets.
Feeling my clients’ frustration and wanting to do more to support them, I reached into my network and have collaborated with some trusted colleagues to create a better solution.

Plus – Training for your people:
We recognize there are many topics where your team (support staff and lawyers) could use training, beyond the legal education provided by BC CLE and similar programs. Each year, we hold six virtual training events for our member firms:
- The business of law – fundamentals
- Top marketing and business development strategies for lawyers
- The art of giving and receiving feedback
- Handling difficult conversations with clients and colleagues
- Practice management fundamentals
- Building robust timekeeping and billing habits
These events are held live and are also available to registrants as recordings following the event. Many of these sessions will also qualify for lawyers’ annual required CLE credits.
Each year we will poll our members and new topics will be introduced as needed.
