Business development is personal. Everyone has their own style and approach. Base Camp emphasizes a trusted advisor approach. The foundation is care and concern for people and the services you deliver. The emphasis is on relationships and on building trust. Values are important. In fact values ground the entire approach.
Base Camp-Business Development Training
The Shift Works business development training program is called Base Camp. It is designed to equip and support lawyers in their ascent to new heights in their professional practices.
Base Camp takes an active learning approach: Business development skills are based in behaviours. Just like learning to improve a golf stoke, a professional can only develop these skills through active learning, or in other words by putting knowledge into practice and receiving feedback on performance.
Base camp is offered through one-on-one coaching or in small groups. Participants receive instruction, build plans, take action, observe the results and receive feedback on their performance from the coach and group members.
In the Base Camp program the essential business development skills are broken into modules. Each module contains a seminar component, an action component and a feedback component. The modules are structured to make efficient use of time.
The Base Camp Collaborative Work Space
The Shift Works Base Camp training program offers the use of an optional collaborative work space for participants hosted by the on-line project management and collaboration tool of the same name - Base Camp. The Base Camp platform provides a space for participants to post feedback on action items and to view the contributions of other participants. Base Camp offers a virtual classroom for participants to drop in on during the periods between seminars. It also provides a schedule of modules, list of assignments and copies of the reading materials.
